We are seeking a hands-on Service Manager to lead and develop the service division of a leading catering equipment company. This is a pivotal role, overseeing a team of field service engineers and ensuring timely, high-quality servicing, repairs, and installations for clients across the UK.

The ideal candidate will have experience in service management, preferably within the commercial kitchen or catering equipment industry. You’ll have a strong understanding of field operations, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to client engagement, team leadership, and customer service.

What’s involved for the Service Manager…

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the service department
  • Lead, support, and coordinate a team of field service engineers and service controllers
  • Manage scheduling and resource allocation for service, maintenance, and installation jobs
  • Act as a primary contact for key clients, ensuring exceptional service delivery
  • Conduct client meetings to discuss service performance, future requirements, and build long-term relationships
  • Negotiate and manage service contracts, SLAs, and warranty terms with both new and existing clients
  • Work closely with parts and inventory teams to ensure job readiness
  • Monitor service KPIs, job completion rates, and engineer performance
  • Identify trends in equipment issues and initiate proactive solutions
  • Support continuous improvement in service delivery, efficiency, and customer satisfaction

What you’ll need…

  • Proven experience as a Service Manager or in a senior service coordination role
  • Industry experience in catering equipment, commercial kitchen, or similar technical field
  • Strong team leadership and people management skills
  • Client-facing experience with a proven ability to build rapport, conduct meetings, and negotiate contracts
  • Excellent organisational and scheduling abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong computer literacy and experience with service management systems
  • Clear, confident communication skills with clients, engineers, and stakeholders
