In a nutshell…

We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing UK-based manufacturer with a strong reputation in their sector and a long history of operational excellence. Due to internal development, the company is seeking an experienced Finance Controller to take ownership of their accounting functions and lead a small but capable finance team.

This is a hands-on leadership role best suited to someone who thrives in a manufacturing environment, has deep operational finance experience, and can balance day-to-day responsibilities with supporting strategic financial planning.

You’ll be based at the company’s HQ and manufacturing site in Surrey, working closely with other senior leaders across operations, sales, and production.

What’s involved for the Financial Controller…

• Full ownership of the finance function across multiple business entities

• Leading and supporting a team of two (Accounts Assistant and Management Accountant/Payroll)

• Producing monthly management accounts and year-end figures

• Overseeing cash flow, forecasting, and financial reporting

• Handling VAT returns, R&D claims, and bonus/commission calculations

• Managing ledgers, bank reconciliations, journals, and stock valuations

• Ensuring compliance with internal controls and audit requirements

• Liaising with auditors, HMRC, and external stakeholders as needed

• Working with Sage 200 Manufacturing and supporting departmental data integration

What you’ll need…

• Strong background in a manufacturing or engineering business is essential

• Either fully qualified (ACCA, ACA, CIMA) or qualified by experience (QBE)

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in finance

• Experience managing a finance team

• Advanced knowledge of Sage 200 Manufacturing highly desirable

• Hands-on experience with payroll, VAT returns, and credit control

• Confident producing detailed reports and working directly with the senior leadership team

• Strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and a proactive mindset

• Experience with R&D Tax Credit or Patent Box legislation is a bonus

This is a full-time permeant role based on site at our client HQ, working Monday – Friday
