Management Accountant

Peterborough Full Time, Permanent £40,000 - £50,000 P.A

We are working with a leading company in Peterborough. The company is multi-faceted and the accounts team manages and reports on several businesses within the group.

As Management Accountant, you will become a senior member of their accountancy team. You will be reporting into the Financial Controller with the view of being part of the company’s management team over time. Therefore, this role would suit someone who is looking to work for a great business with real career prospects.

The successful candidate will have previous management accounts experience and will be responsible for analysing financial information and implementing effective strategies to enhance business performance.

Accountabilities for the Management Accountant

• Analyse financial information to assist business profitability and growth

• Provide accurate and sound management reporting to assist with key decision making

• Produce month end and year end journals

• Prepare management accounts

• Contribute to annual budgeting and planning process

• Manage company expenditure

• Produce financial statements including P&L accounts, cash flows, variance analysis and commentaries

• Ensure compliance with all financial regulations

• Review accounting processes and practices and improve where necessary to ensure efficient financial operations

• Accountability for cash flow and production of forecasts

• Review company assets and liabilities

• Prepare monthly reconciliations for all accounts

• Assessment of monthly expenses

• Calculation, presentation and payment of VAT

• Accounts Payable including invoice processing and preparation of payment runs

Experience required

• Qualified ACA / ACCA / CIMA

• Proven experience within a similar role

• Thorough understanding of management information systems

• Strong Excel skills (V Lookups, Pivot Tables etc)

• Commercially aware

• Ability to communicate with people at all levels, both financial and non-financial

• Highly competent, with solid commercial acumen

• Ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
